For this trail the total elevation gain and the CAI difficulty rating are not currently available in the OpenStreetMap database: we do not publish invented estimates or hiking times. We will update this listing as soon as the data is surveyed in the field or supplied by the managing bodies.
Like every trail on the Italian hiking network, the route is marked by the red-and-white waymarks of the Italian Alpine Club: two horizontal bands, often with the trail number in the middle. The red-and-white marks don't point to the destination; step by step they confirm you're still on the right path — the hiker's guiding thread. Always follow the marks, don't stray from the track, and carry water, proper footwear and an up-to-date map.

From the OpenStreetMap record
Over a thousand years ago, pilgrims traveled all the way from England to Rome. After the Eternal City, the route continued to Jerusalem through the port of Brindisi. EuroVelo 5 is a 3,200 km version of this legendary route.
